Medusa's Temple is a project on LEGO CUUSOO created by Strider on September 6th, 2012.  It is based on the story of Perseus and Medusa from greek mythology, according to its description.

From the perspective of one who has studied the original myths, it is probably based more off of the "Clash of the Titans" movie than from classic myths.  This is evidenced by the temple setting with the ship, which only appeared in the movie, as well as the fact that Perseus seems to lack his signature winged sandals.  This alternative reference makes for just as good a LEGO set, but may confuse people who were fans of the original myths. Recently, the temple was updated to a smaller version.

UPDATE: 2/22/13 - New temple design. The design is intended to be different from the temple seen in the Atlantis theme. It also uses more modern colors, the piece count has been reduced, the full baseplate has been removed, and a smaller island was added to provide a place for the action of the story to occur. What do you think?

A Greek mythology themed set. Includes Medusa's temple, the Hero's ship, and 3 minifigures.

A small building, a vehicle, enough minifigures to tell a complete story, and reasonable size make this an appealing and reasonable creation that could be turned into a LEGO set. Medusa 1

The minifigures - from left to right: (Note: These are the intended designs - not those in the cover shot.)

Petrified Warrior: Medusa's gaze was said to turn people to stone. This former warrior attempted to best Medusa and failed. The brush of the helmet and the cape were color corrected to further distinguish the figure from Perseus.

Perseus: Includes the option for hair or helm. Holds the gladius sword model and a custom painted shield. Perseus's reflective shield was vital to the defeat of Medusa as he was able to look at her reflection without being turned to stone. Shield is made from a round Spartan shield, a 1x1 dot, and a 2x2 disk.

Medusa the Gorgon: UPDATE - Collectible Minifigure Medusa

Thanks GlenBricker for adding a stone torso on the petrified warrior and making Medusa's torso more feminine - I truly appreciate it! Medusa 2

The ship without a sail. The ship was built at a scale that kept the set small and looked like it could be sailed by one person. Medusa 3

The temple includes a snake covered shrine holding a golden disk. The smaller island and rock bridge provide areas for the action to occur and a place for the ship to land. A shrine and a piece of pottery fill the small island. Medusa 4

The original. Do you like this one better?

It's rare that one sees a project whose story is thousands of years old! :) We also enjoy that you've added an older picture of the model to show it's evaluation based on community feedback - great job!

Best wishes on your quest to 10,000 supporters!
